Ulysses S. Doss Scholarship

Awarded: Spring 2015

The scholarship is given in honor of African-American Studies founding director, Dr. Ulysses S. Doss in recognition of his long time commitment to the program and his impact on several generations of UM students.

Amount: $1,200 (to be applied to student’s Fall 2015 Financial Aid Account)

Criteria: Sophomore or junior students (as of Fall 2014) who are minoring in African-American Studies. Recipients must have financial need, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid need analysis. Preference shall be given to students who have performed community service. In the interest of promoting the University's educational interest in attaining a diverse student body, special consideration will be given to students from diverse populations.

Application: Submit –

  • an application form and a needs analysis form
  • an academic transcript
  • two letters of reference
