Welcome to the Sala Lab
Physiological Plant Ecology
Our lab is broadly interested in the physiological basis of plant performance in the field, with a special focus on plant resource dynamics and its implications on plant life history strategies and plant responses to their environment. Rather than concentrating our efforts on a specific study species or research question, our driving force is the curiosity to understand from a physiological perspective how and why plants function the way they do in the face of fluctuating and challenging environmental conditions. Much of our research has concentrated on trees, particularly conifers, although we also work on other plant life forms. Some of our research is basic in nature while some has direct management implications. Click on the “Research’ tab to see the types of patterns and questions that have intrigued us.
