April 19 (Sat) EARTH SERVICE DAY I (may change, check back for updates)  UM MAP

     9am to 2pm -MT Sentinel M Trail work & prairie restoration. Plant, weed, fence. Meet at trainhead or hike up to workers.

             Bring work gloves & water. RSVP if you want lunch to

     10am to noon--Clark Fork Coalition River clean up, (BBQ noon-2pm) - Pick up trash along the Clark Fork.

             Team leaders meet at Caras Park between 9am & 10 am to get supplies for your group. Contact

     1 pm to 3pm--Recycle Relay-- Sort recyclables at UM Recycling Shed. Back of UM Facility Services (Physical Plant)

             NE corner of campus, between stadium & MT Sentinel.    MAP. contact -

     10am to 5pm -- FreeCycles Service Day (732 S 1st W)  --tune up bikes for community. Info at or 880-6834

     2 to 5pm -- Stencil storm drains at UM (to prevent dumping down drains). Contact

     Noon to 4:30pm --DIG DAY -- turn lawns into food gardens. Meet in Kiwanis Park at noon.


Ecopentathletes bike from event to event working about an hour at each. Need water, work gloves, helmet & bike (UM students can borrow bikes from UM). Prizes for those who complete the day & one lucky person will win a bike. Meet at 9 am on Kim Williams Trail by Van Buren footbridge. Will be done about 5pm. RSVP: email or call 243-5153.

    4pm -- Disney’s ‘Bears’ Movie at Carmike 12 (3640 Mullan Rd). Door prizes and bear experts.

    7:30-11pm-- EARTH SERVICE DAY DANCE-- Union Hall, 208 E. Main, upstairs. Easy country dance (taught & called); no experience or partner needed. Live music. $9 (Earth Service Day workers & kids under 15 free). Missoula Folklore Society

April 21 (Mon) noon -- Careers in Sustainable Food Systems Panel (UM’s UC Commons)

     4-6pm -- TEDX Sustainable Food Talks Viewing Party (UM’s UC Theater)

     10-11am -- Home-Grown Mushroom Workshop (UMD Garden, south side of Lommasson Center)

     11-1:30 -- Earth Day Omelet Bar (UM Food Zoo in Lommasson Center)

     11am-3pm -- SUSTAINAGANZA in UC Ballroom & Atrium, UM Oval & Library Mall  (set up at 10am)

        Tabling & demos & giveaways: Bikes, recycling, music, dancing, cake, awards, report cards.

     3-4pm --Reinvest MT gathering, UM Oval; 3-5pm-Composting Van Painting Party (UM LommassonCenter parking lot).

     10am-5pm--Free Cycles Service Day (732 S 1st W) -- fix community bikes., 541-7284,

     11am to 3pm -- Help with bird migration study at MPG Ranch (also on 24th). Contact to participate

April 23 (Wed)-- 11-2pm: Bike Blender Smoothies, UM Oval; 5-7 pm: Compost Van Painting (UM Lommasson parking lot).

     6-8:30pm-- "Prairie Songs," free reading event celebrating nature writing in W MT. Missoula's Top Hat Lounge. Camas

April 24 (Thur) Food Preservation, noon, UC Atrium; UMD Garden Tour 3-4pm; Bike Blender Smoothies, 2-5pm,UM Oval

   4-5pm -- Coal Industry Rhetoric. by UM professor Steve Schwarze. UM Forestry 301.

  11am-3pm --Assist with Spring Bird Migration Study at MPG Ranch.  More info

April 25 (Fri) 10am-4pm Farmers Marketin UM Corner Store; 12:30-1:30pm, Attracting Native Pollinators, UMD Garden

       3-6 pm UM FLAT 5th Annual Earth Week BBQ (633 5th St. East, by UM)For a mere $3-5 suggested donation -- great local food, live music, fab silent auction. Check out this sustainable living/ learning center where students & the community collaborate on projects like permaculture garden, solar power, energy conservation, chicken ranching, worm composting!

    10am-3pm--Meet your farmer & sample local food-- at Pattee Creek Market, Buttercup Cafe, Market on Front in Msla

    10:30am-3pm--Stream restoration work for volunteers on Doran Creek in the Bitteroot. Contact <>

    1-2pm -- Day of Climate Action in Missoula -- meet at the XXXs North end of North Higgins
