Options in Linguistics

Anthropology Majors

To earn an Option in Linguistics with an Anthropology major, students must complete 12 credits beyond their major degree requirements, as follows:

Students must take the following 2 courses (6 credits):

  • LING 470  Introduction to Linguistics (3 credits)
  • LING 473  Language and Culture (3 credits)

Students must take 2 of the following courses listed below (6 credits):

French Majors (MCLL)

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages offers a French major with a Linguistics Option. To earn an Option in Linguistics with a French major, students must complete 18 credits of Linguistics courses as follows:

Students must take 1 of the following 2 courses (3 credits):

  • LING 270S Introduction to Linguistics
  • LING 470   Linguistics Analysis

Students must take the following 2 courses (6 credits):

  • LING 471   Phonetics and Phonology
  • LING 473   Language and Culture

Students must take 3 additional Linguistics courses (9 credits)
