Argumentation in Mathematics

Abstract

The origins of argumentation in mathematics are traced from Aristotelian logic onto the work of medieval theologians in modal logic, culminating in work in didactics on the pedagogy of argumentation. The characteristics of mathematical argumentation are unpacked.
