Faculty Opportunities

NEH 2015 Summer Stipends

The NEH Summer Stipend Proposals are used to support faculty who are interested in “pursuing advanced research that contributes to scholarly knowledge or to the public’s understanding of the humanities.” The University of Montana is allowed to nominate up to two applicants for this grant competition.  To apply for the UM nomination, individuals must prepare a proposal according to NEH guidelines (using grants.gov) and submit the electronic proposal (send via email to Assoc. Dean Jenny McNulty mcnulty@mso.umt.edu).  Proposals will be reviewed by an internal UM committee.  This review committee will select two nominees for the national competition. Applications for internal UM review are due September 2, 2014. More information can be found at the NEH website http://www.neh.gov/grants/guidelines/stipends.html . In an effort to stimulate grant submissions in the Humanities, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Creative Scholarship has provided two additional awards. The two nominations chosen for the national NEH Summer Stipend competition will be eligible for a $1,000 award. To receive this award, each applicant must submit an additional research proposal to the NEH or similar federal agency within the year. For additional information please contact the College of Humanities and Sciences Associate Dean Jenny McNulty at 243-4458 or mcnulty@mso.umt.edu
